Hello, Active Citizen!
I'm curious. Was this the fastest January in the history of Januaries? Last year's January was fast too, right? At this point, I think we just say this every year for vibes.
Also, is it just me, or did this January come with debit alerts flying left, right, center?🥲
Anyways, how are you doing? How’s exams prep going too? We need a JCIN UNILAG BGS next year, and I'm not joking! Let's make it happen.
You already know why I'm here, soo…shall we?
Don't break the chain! You've received the latest, now it's your turn to pass it on!

Mr President’s New Year Message
We started the year with a new year message from our President. In a thoughtful note, he wished every member a new year, appreciated the dedication of active members, and encouraged everyone to stay engaged and committed to service.

The Southwest Area Council of Presidents (ACOPs)
The Southwest Area Council of Presidents training was set for two days - January 17th and 18th, 2025 - and hosted by JCI Oluyole at Damjay Hotel and Suites, Ibadan. Representing our Local organization were the LOP, Isaac Temitope Ajenufuja; the EVP, Fathia Abolore Yusuf; and the Director of Special Duties, Korede Ibukunoluwa David-Oluwole. During the training, an Area Council General Assembly was held, featuring key figures like the National President of JCI Nigeria, the National Vice Presidents (South-West District 1 & 2), and the President of JCI Oluyole. Other JCI Nigeria local organizations were also in attendance. The General Assembly covered National Plans on membership retention, brand awareness, and financial sustainability. To wrap up the day, there was a networking dinner - because what's JCI without good food and great connections?

Day 2 picked up where we left off diving back into trainings. The interim secretary led a session on the structure and activities of the JCI Nigeria Secretariat. There was also the ELV8 session with the National President, followed by an inspiring Leading with Vision session by JCI Sen. Kayode Ayedogbon. Another leadership session, delivered by JCI. Sen. Seun Osikalu, rounded off the day.

In summary, the training was for the leaders to gear up for a year of impactful leadership in their Local Organizations.
JCIN UNILAG 4th General Assembly and Induction Ceremony
If you think General Assemblies are just about long speeches and formalities, you clearly haven’t been to a JCIN UNILAG GA! The 4th General Assembly, held on January 24, 2025, was more than a meeting; it was a full-blown celebration of leadership, growth, and new beginnings. And trust us, this one was a big deal.

After weeks of rigorous recruitment, 216 passionate and driven individuals made the cut from an initial pool of 431 applicants. These fresh faces officially took their oaths and became part of the ever-growing JCIN UNILAG community. And of course, we did it in style! The induction ceremony was nothing short of grand, with JCI Ambassadors, Senators, and an impressive lineup of guests in attendance. Among them were the National Vice President (Northwest), National Executive Vice President (South-West District 1), LOP Lagos Prestige, LOP Lekki Royale, LOP JCIN Festac, LOP JCIN Ikeja, and many more.

What’s a JCIN UNILAG event without a little extra wisdom? Mr. Hakeem Akiode took the stage for a powerful training session on "Beyond JCI: Integrating Mindfulness into Your Personal Development Journey”. He didn’t just talk about personal growth, he made it real, practical, and (dare we say) fun! From strategies for staying focused to tools for navigating life with mindfulness, attendees walked away with insights that will stick with them far beyond their JCI journey.
The GA wrapped up with an exciting awards presentation, celebrating dignitaries, guests, new inductees, and dedicated members who went above and beyond. Because at JCIN UNILAG, hard work doesn’t just get noticed, it gets celebrated!
So, what’s next? Bigger events, more impact, and an unstoppable community of young leaders making waves. If the 4th General Assembly is anything to go by, JCIN UNILAG is just getting started!
Courtesy Visit to JCIN UNILAG’s Patron
The president, along with some of our executives, paid a visit to JCIN UNILAG’s Patron, Professor L.O. Chukwu on January 22, 2025. This visit was all about strengthening ties and keeping him updated on all the happenings in the organization.

During the meeting, the president presented the chapter’s plans for the year, highlighting how JCIN UNILAG is set to excel in key areas like community impact, leadership development, and personal growth opportunities for members.
Team Hangouts
Some of our amazing teams started the year with hangouts. The Awards & Documentation, Brands & Communications, and Projects & Programs teams all organized get-togethers.
These hangouts were all about team bonding, featuring games, paint-and-sip sessions, and plenty of other fun activities.
Here are some snapshots from the hangouts!
