Dear Active Citizen, the one brimming with potential! Happy New Month! It's just 59 days left to 2025. Hope you've been able to tick some boxes off the list you made earlier in the year?
(Abii I should mind my business?😹)
Just wanted to remind you, there's still so much you can do before the year rounds up. Anyways, I hope you’re doing great?
Let's get into today's business, shall we?

JCIN UNILAG SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
Kicking off the month, our Skills and Development Team hosted a training titled, “Discovering Possibilities: Maximizing Opportunities as a Student.” The empowering session featured expert-led workshops on boosting your online presence with LinkedIn optimization, crafting a standout CV, building a personal brand, and landing global internships.

Our expert trainers ignited minds with cutting-edge insights on these diverse topics, fueling attendees with new ideas and opportunities.
JCI NIGERIA NATCON EXPERIENCE
Our Active Citizens had a swell time at the recently concluded 2024 JCI Nigeria National Convention. The momentous ceremony witnessed a transfer of leadership as outgoing JCI Nigeria President, Sandra Efemuaye officially handed over the chain of office to the incoming President, Toyin Atanda, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. In addition, the conference included panel discussions, training sessions and several other exciting activities which the delegates participated in.

Toni, one of the delegates, shared her inspiring experience with us. She noted that one insight that particularly resonated with her during the panel session, was the Global President’s memorable phrase: “PHD - Passion, Hard work, and Discipline.” Toni also found the training sessions highly valuable, describing them as engaging and interactive.

Celebrating our members’ successes is always a pleasure. That said, we're delighted to announce that our Immediate Past President, Risqat Fijabi, was appointed as the Personal Assistant to the JCI Nigeria National President.

This well-deserved recognition underscores her exceptional leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts in driving positive change. We're super elated to celebrate this achievement with you, IPP Risqat!
JCIN UNILAG AND TEDxUNILAG COLLABORATION
We recently partnered with TEDxUNILAG for its highly anticipated TED event. After almost a decade, the event was held on October 26th, 2024. The theme, “Just DARE" was a call to attendees to “Disrupt the status quo, Achieve extraordinary milestones, Reach new heights, and Explore boundless possibilities.” TEDxUNILAG featured thought-provoking sessions from notable speakers, including Olawale Hammed (Catalyst), Oche Writes, Oluwatobi Ajayi, Hauwa Lawal, amongst others.

Beyond the inspiring talks, the event also offered valuable networking opportunities. With “Just DARE,” TEDxUNILAG ignited a movement, empowering its attendees to challenge the norm and strive for excellence.
SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY HIGHLIGHTS
At JCI, we believe in connecting passionate individuals who share a common goal - to create impact. During the second General Assembly, our Executive Vice President, Fathia Abolore-Yusuf, and Immediate Past President, Risqat Fijabi, shared their inspiring JCIN UNILAG journeys, reinforcing this mission.
“JCI offers a platform to easily network. You're able to meet people that share the same interests and ideas.” - EVP Fathia emphasized.

The assembly, which was held on October 30th, 2024, discussed the topic, “The Power of Networking: Building Meaningful Connections For Growth,” igniting lively discussions and valuable insights.
