It's our first newsletter for 2025. It feels like forever since the last one, right?
Speaking of fresh starts, did you set any goals for the year? If you did, I hope you’ve been sticking to them!
Just like we’ve kicked off the year with big plans and goals to crush, JCIN UNILAG’s affiliated organizations at the international, national, and collegiate levels have also started fresh with new tenures, welcomed new leaders, and introduced inspiring themes. In this newsletter, I’ll bring you up to speed on recent changes within these organizations.

Junior Chamber International (JCI)
Let's begin with Junior Chamber International (JCI). JCI leads the entire organization worldwide, and 2025 began with a big change at the top. Kaveen Kumar Kumaravel officially handed over the reins to Keisuke Shimoyamada, who now serves as the 2025 JCI World President.
The JCI's theme for 2025 is “Rise Up” – a powerful call to action. President Keisuke emphasizes that the theme perfectly aligns with JCI’s mission to empower young leaders to create positive change.
So, what’s in store for JCI this year? President Keisuke has outlined his plan of action for the year. In 2025, the organization is focused on strengthening brand awareness and visibility, ensuring that JCI’s impact is recognized globally. There would also be a strong push to grow and retain membership by providing valuable leadership development opportunities. To secure JCI’s long-term sustainability, efforts will focus on building a more efficient, structured, and transparent organization that can thrive for generations to come. Additionally, JCI aims to increase member engagement by creating more meaningful opportunities for participation, both online and in-person.
Junior Chamber International, Nigeria (JCI Nigeria)
JCI is structured into different levels that work together to achieve its mission. Here at the national level, we have JCI Nigeria, which leads and oversees all JCI activities across the country. JCI Nigeria ensures that the global mission and vision are effectively carried out within our local communities.
This year, JCI Nigeria is rallying around the exciting theme: "ELV8 Nigeria: Rising Together for a Sustainable Future." The theme is all about elevating our efforts, impact, and vision to build a more sustainable future for everyone.
Under this campaign, JCI Nigeria will be rolling out eight exciting projects, including the much-anticipated Southern Conference, Northern Conference, and National Convention.

Also, JCI Nigeria hosts the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Awards every year, and guess what? Applications for volunteers are now open for the 2025 TOYP Awards! By joining the team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in teamwork, communication, and event coordination- all while being a part of something amazing.
Another incredible opportunity happening is the JCI Nigeria ELV80 Mentorship and Exchange Program. This program offers exclusive mentorship from industry titans, insider insights from Nigeria’s top establishments, and a chance to master soft skills that are essential for personal and career growth.

Junior Chamber International Nigeria, Collegiate (JCIN Collegiate)
Junior Chamber International Nigeria, Collegiate represents all collegiate chapters under JCI Nigeria. It has also kicked off 2025 with a new leadership and exciting initiatives aimed at empowering student leaders across Nigeria. The 2025 Collegiate Chairperson, JCIN Cllr. Amira Abdullahi, stepped into her role with enthusiasm and a clear vision for the year ahead.
This year's theme, “Ascend: Innovation, Collaboration, and Inclusivity,” highlights the organization's commitment to embracing new ideas, strengthening partnerships, and fostering an inclusive environment for all members.
As always, JCIN Collegiate’s flagship event - the annual Collegiate Conference - will bring together JCI Nigeria members and industry experts to exchange ideas, with the aim of enhancing personal and professional development, and strengthening collaboration within the community.
