Navigating AI & Opportunity: Key Takeaways from Commonwealth Day 2025
On the 14th of March, 2025, the Commonwealth Day event, titled "Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating & Transforming - AI, Youth & the Future of Work," was held alongside leaders from JCI Nigeria. Most notably, the National President of JCI Nigeria, JCI Amb. Oluwatoyin Atanda, attended the event, and was a key speaker. The event provided critical insights into AI's impact on our professional landscape.

JCI Nigeria Featured the Educate a Child Project
The execution of the "Educate a Child" initiative raised eyebrows as JCI Nigeria featured the outreach on her social media page.
In the spirit of love, and also for the love of children and education, JCIN UNILAG in partnership with Web3 UNILAG, executed the "Educate a Child" initiative. On the 14th of February, 2025, we had payed a visit to Eletu Odibo Senior High School, Yaba. The motive of the outreach was to equip the students and educate them on how best to go about their academic journey. We not only fulfilled this aim, but also brought smiles to the faces of the students.
The success of the outreach is owed to the volunteers and also speakers who displayed that truly, service to humanity is the best work life. The great work done by speakers and volunteers was featured on the JCI Nigeria's social media page on Instagram, as well as the UNILAG Sun.
JCI Lagos City Leadership and Entrepreneurship Masterclass
The stage was set at Yaba where the JCI Lagos City's 2025 edition of Breakfast with the CEO, tagged Leadership and Entrepreneurship Masterclass, was held. The program kicked off at 9am on the 1st of March at the Delog House, Yaba, and aimed at developing leadership skills and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities among members. The educational program was hosted by Bode Roberts, the CEO of Dataleum, and a multi-award winning business coach, leadership mentor and serial entrepreneur.
Mr. Roberts discussed the topic “Building an Intelligent Future in a Digital Age” stating the components of an intelligent future: physical intelligence, mental intelligence, social intelligence and spiritual intelligence. Sharing stories from his personal life's journey to success, he encouraged and challenged attendees to take the bull by the horn and never relent in their journey for success and an intelligent future.
The meeting accentuated mentorship opportunities and networking sessions with the goal of fostering sustainable growth, as well as adding value to members of JCIN UNILAG
Welfare Exam Relief
JCIN UNILAG members were surprised with thoughtful and heartwarming welfare exam relief packages from the Local Organization. This was all in an effort to support members during the rigorous examination period. What made the relief packages even more special was the inclusion of a handwritten note in each package.
The notes were tailored to inspire positivity, boost students’ confidence, and remind them of their capabilities. They also helped to reduce stress, encourage students to approach their exams with a positive mindset, and show JCIN UNILAG members that they were not alone in their academic journey.
The initiative was received with overwhelming positivity from the students. Many expressed their gratitude not only for the practical support but also for the emotional boost that the handwritten notes provided.
Overall, the initiative created a sense of community and connectedness among the students, and it allowed them to approach their exams with renewed positivity and confidence. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of combining care, empathy, and practical assistance to help students thrive, both academically and personally, during their exam periods. The handwritten notes, in particular, created a lasting connection between the organization and its members, reinforcing the community spirit and the shared commitment to success.

JCI Ksar Said X JCIN UNILAG Webinar
JCI Ksar Said, Tunisia partnered with JCIN UNILAG to deliver a wonderful webinar on business growth, marketing, and innovation. It was packed with valuable insights from industry experts, JCI Amb. Olubunmi Fadare and Ms. Siwar Wesleti, covering topics ranging from personal branding to innovative strategies for sustainable business growth. If you missed it, here’s a summary of the key takeaways to keep you inspired and informed.
JCI Amb. Olubunmi Fadare emphasized the importance of packaging when marketing yourself and your business. She shared how leveraging social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn can help connect with potential customers and partners, opening doors to opportunities that might seem out of reach.
Her session also clarified the distinction between entrepreneurship and business ownership: entrepreneurship involves creating innovative ideas that generate income while business ownership focuses on running established ventures.
Ms. Siwar, on the other hand, introduced the concept of the Blue Economy, highlighting its role in optimizing resources while preserving marine ecosystems. She explained how innovations in small-scale fishing businesses are improving fishermen’s lives and contributing to economic growth.
She shared insights about her internship at BLUEPSOL, a company dedicated to eco-friendly solutions for small-scale fishermen. Their focus on creating a healthier ocean while boosting efficiency is a win-win for both the environment and the fishing industry.
