“Bringing back TED to the University of Lagos after a decade was one of the wildest ride I’m glad I took” — Leader Bill
There's a running joke I tell, about how growing up sheltered made me introverted without my consent. Now, it's my greatest superpower, not obstacle.
I do not optimize for accolades, but I am proud of my little 'done-goods' in this world. Professionally creating an ecosystem where introverts like me can tap into their potential without feeling less than, makes it easier to get up in the morning. It's called the Global Introvert Circle
Semi Academically, bringing back TED to the University of Lagos after near a decade was one of the wildest rides I'm glad I took. Created job opportunities, internship experiences, among other things to my University's Ecosystem. We are truly Great Akokites!
“At 17, I took a leap of faith and founded my organization” — Anjola
Looking back, one of my proudest moments was renovating four classrooms at a special needs school in GRA Primary School. It wasn’t just about fixing walls or replacing furniture—it was about creating a space where children with special needs could learn, feel valued, and thrive. To make it even more special, we organized a Christmas party for them, filling the day with joy, laughter, and a reminder that every child deserves love and care. Seeing their smiles that day was priceless and reinforced my belief in the power of community-driven impact.
But this journey started long before that. At 17, I took a leap of faith and founded my organization, driven by nothing but passion and a desire to make a difference. By 19, I had it officially registered. Since then, I’ve led several successful campaigns, built a community of dedicated young changemakers, and collaborated internationally to drive meaningful action.
“I secured my internship at one of Nigeria’s leading renewable energy companies” — Toluwanimi
One professional achievement I’m incredibly proud of is how I secured my internship at Rensource Energy, one of Nigeria’s leading renewable energy companies.
Rensource organized a career day program for female students in the Faculty of Engineering, which happens to be my faculty. The event, tagged Rensource Energize Her Initiative(REHI), came with several perks, especially for 400-level students, as they planned to offer four internship slots to four female engineering students. The selected interns would also be taken to Abuja for a boot camp during the internship, and all these details were to be announced on the career day.
When the application form was released, I applied. I advanced past the first stage and proceeded to the test phase, where the top 10 candidates will be selected. I passed the test and moved on to the final stage, an interview that was scheduled to take place during the career day event.
Out of the 10 candidates, only four would be selected. I was one of the four. Hearing my name announced in front of the entire audience was such an honor. To top it all off, I was interviewed by Channels TV, it was my first time being on television.
This entire experience was a significant milestone for me, and I’m continuously working towards even greater achievements.
“Turning my passion for food and events into a thriving brand” — Esther
An achievement I’m really proud of is turning my passion for food and events into a thriving brand called Abisoye Foods N Events . Beyond just selling pastries and planning events, we’re creating opportunities for women and youth, promoting healthy eating, and redefining celebrations. Every time a client smiles after tasting our pastries or experiencing a flawless event, I’m reminded that I’m not just running a business; I’m making an impact.
“My ability to seamlessly balance multiple leadership roles while making a meaningful impact” — Oluwaferanmi
One achievement that makes me proud is my ability to seamlessly balance multiple leadership roles while making a meaningful impact.
As a Faculty Executive of ULSSA (University of Lagos Science Students Association), Lagos State Youth Leader for Girls' Brigade Nigeria, a social media manager amongst other roles I take up, I juggle responsibilities that require strategic planning, effective communication, and adaptability.
Despite these commitments, I remain dedicated to mentoring others, driving impactful initiatives, and continuously upskilling myself in leadership and digital skills. Navigating these roles with confidence and purpose has strengthened my resilience and deepened my commitment to growth - something that inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and creating change.
“Winning the Microsoft National Championship for PowerPoint was completely unexpected for me” — Aliyah
Winning the Microsoft National Championship for PowerPoint was completely unexpected for me, but I was beyond happy. I mean, who knew that a tool most people use for school projects could turn into a competitive sport? The competition was very intense, and every little trick counted. When I saw my name at the top, I was equal parts shocked and excited. It wasn’t just about winning - it was a reminder that even the most ordinary skills can open unexpected doors. Plus, I now have a fun facts to throw into conversations!
“I have handled an outreach of over 500+ students” — Ifeoluwa
A personal achievement I would say I am proud of is stepping out of my comfort zone, and starting a business last year October. There are more, but this is the two I would like to mention.
What do I mean by stepping out of my comfort zone? I engaged in volunteering opportunities and this built my self confidence, public speaking and leadership skills. I have handled an outreach of over 500+ students. Being able to manage such amount of audience is a stepping stone for me.
Starting a business, I started a fragrance business last year October. I would say I am proud of myself of taking this bold step to becoming an entrepreneur. The road might be rough but I am sure to overcome all challenges I might face.
“Becoming a Chartered Accountant while actively leading and contributing to initiatives that empower others” — Oluwaseyi
One of my proudest achievements is becoming a chartered accountant while actively leading and contributing to initiatives that empower others. From earning my ICAN certification to mentoring students and advocating for economic growth through the Millennium Campus Fellowship, my journey has been one of resilience, leadership, and continuous learning. These experiences have strengthened my passion for finance, personal development, and creating opportunities that inspire others to excel.
“I have led peer-to-peer campaigns to educate students about HPV” — Anthonia
One achievement I’m particularly proud of is advocating for better health awareness, especially among young people. Through my work with HEAL Society UNILAG and the Slum and Rural Health Initiative, I have led peer-to-peer campaigns to educate students about HPV, its risks, and the importance of vaccination. Empowering people with accurate health information and seeing them take proactive steps toward their well-being has been truly fulfilling.
“I’m the founder of a community focused on guiding young girls by connecting them with mentors who support their personal and professional growth”— Chinyere
One achievement I’m particularly proud of is being a core team member of Communicators’ Corner, a community dedicated to empowering Mass Communication students globally. Through this platform, we equip aspiring media professionals with essential skills, connect them with industry leaders, and help them grow into well-seasoned communicators.
Additionally, I’m the founder of Let’s Talk Life with Enkay, a community focused on guiding young girls by connecting them with mentors who support their personal and professional growth. Seeing the impact of both initiatives has been incredibly fulfilling.
Reading these stories, one thing is clear - every win, no matter how big or small, carries power. They remind us that success isn’t always loud; sometimes, it’s in the quiet moments of courage, persistence, and self-belief. In JCIN UNILAG, we are always reminded that growth is a journey, and every step forward matters.
So, as we celebrate these achievements, let’s also embrace our own wins. Because every effort counts, and every story deserves to be told.
Until next time, enterprising young leaders. Keep making an impact!
