"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader" - John Quincy Adams.
John Quincy Adams quote highlights that true leadership is measured by the positive impact you have on others. At it's core, leadership is the natural ability to inspire people. At JCIN UNILAG, we believe that leadership is about empowering others and making a real impact. That's why we're committed to helping young people like you unlock your potential and drive positive change.
The Officers Training School Recap
Our new board of directors are no exception. They recently spent two days at the JCI Nigeria Secretariat in Ikeja, learning and growing together at the Officers Training School (OTS).

From August 12th to 13th, they honed their leadership skills, brainstormed strategies, and got ready to make a real difference.

The training provided them with an opportunity to collaborate, strategize, and engage more effectively.
Unveiling of the STEP Logo
Big news! We're excited to share that our Local Organization (LO) has unveiled its Presidential theme and logo for the year - introducing STEP!

But what does STEP mean? It's more than just a logo - it's a roadmap for our LO's initiatives and programs. The STEP Agenda is a comprehensive framework guiding our Local Organization's (LO) initiatives and programs for the year. This agenda is designed to align with JCI's vision of developing leaders for a changing world and our mission to contribute to the advancement of global communities.
S - Sustainability
T - Training and Development
E - Engagement
P - Positioning
The STEP Agenda is designed to drive growth, development, and impact within our LO and the broader community. By focusing on Sustainability, Training and Development, Engagement, and Positioning, we will empower our members to become active citizens and leaders, driving positive change in the world.
AFRIMUN'24 Update
Get ready for some inspiring stories! Our team of 10 delegates attended the Africa International Model United Nations (AFRIMUN) program at Park Inn, where they rubbed shoulders with representatives from South Korea, Canada, and more.

After an unforgettable experience, they were eager to share their stories and insights with us. Graceyy, reflecting on her experience, recalled the nerves and doubts she felt when she first received the congratulatory email from JCIN UNILAG. Despite her initial fears about research and public speaking, she found herself growing in confidence and passion for learning. For her, AFRIMUN was a challenging but deeply rewarding journey.
Olamide also found the experience transformative, describing it as a challenging and educational journey that opened his eyes to international relations. Representing the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, he gained insights into global diplomacy and discovered a new passion for working in the international space.

Ohh, the wins didn't stop there! Our local organization president won an "Honourable Mention" award for his outstanding leadership, and Fatima took home an award too!
AFRIMUN was more than just a conference - it was a journey that ignited new ambitions and pushed boundaries. We can't wait to see the impact our delegates will make next!😊

Movie Recommendations for the Week
Aquaman!👀 No, just kidding. If you're looking for a movie on leadership that's actually worth your time, we've got a few recommendations.
1. Invictus
Have you seen "Invictus" (2009) starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar? It's an inspiring true story about leadership, teamwork, and overcoming incredible odds. This movie showcases Mandela's remarkable leadership skills as he unites post-apartheid South Africa through the universal language of sports - specifically, Rugby. With the country on the brink of chaos, Mandela sees an opportunity to bring people together and create a sense of national pride. He teams up with the captain of the Springboks, Francois Pienaar, and together they embark on an unforgettable journey.
What makes "Invictus" a great leadership movie is its focus on key leadership principles like vision, empathy, and collaboration. You'll witness Mandela's exceptional ability to inspire and motivate others, even in the face of adversity. Plus, the film's themes of perseverance, forgiveness, and unity are just as relevant today as they were during Mandela's presidency.
2. Chief of Staff
“Chief of Staff” is a Korean TV show about a man named Jang Tae-joon, a ruthless and cunning Chief of Staff, who works behind the scenes to help a politician become President. This movie explores the world of politics and power struggles, delving into the life of a chief of staff who becomes embroiled in a political conspiracy. The series highlights Jang Tae-joon's exceptional leadership skills, including: Strategic thinking and planning, Masterful manipulation and negotiation, Unwavering loyalty and dedication, and Ruthless decision-making and problem-solving. "Chief of Staff" offers a gripping look at leadership, power dynamics, and the complexities of human relationships. If you enjoy political dramas with complex characters and thought-provoking themes, this show is definitely worth checking out!
So, if you're ready for a movie night that will leave you feeling uplifted and motivated, add "Invictus" and "Chief of Staff" to your watchlist. Trust me, you won't regret it!
